Steven Evans Kirby is a senior partner in the Hollister & Brace law firm. He received his B.S. degree in political science from the University of Oregon in 1967. He graduated with honors from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1971, where he was a member of the McAuliffe Honor Society, and Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review.
Mr. Kirby practices natural resources law, with emphasis on oil and gas, mining, real estate, land use and related litigation. He has represented some of the world’s largest oil and gas and natural resource companies in a diverse number of onshore and offshore projects in the western United States, and elsewhere in the world. He has achieved a high degree of success in helping clients through a maze of regulations and bureaucracy at the local, state and federal levels.
Mr. Kirby has served as President of the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, President of the Western States Petroleum Association (Coastal Associates), and served on the Boards of Directors of the Coalition of Labor, Agriculture & Business, Santa Barbara County Legal Aid Foundation, Earl Warren Showground Foundation, and others.
Mr. Kirby holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, Inc., its highest rating awarded to attorneys.
